But that's exactly what a couple in Menasha, Wisconsin, when they started chasing after vehicles dressed as circus jokers.
The pranksters included two men, aged 20 and 29. The latter was accompanied by a 26-year-old female driver, his wife.
Eventually, 911 was called and the officers confronted them.
As it turned out, the 29-year-old and the 26-year-old woman, who had parked her vehicle nearby, had a child whom they had left unattended at their home.
Although no-one was charged for this distasteful prank, the couple was taken into custody for neglecting the child, who was "placed by the Department of Human Services outside of the home," according to KTLA. "The parents have been referred to court on counts of child neglect."
