“You are more beautiful than you think” – it’s a message that often repeated, stressed upon, but it’s a message that is as often ignored. Women have been told to hate how they look, how their bodies look, they often stress about every little thing – from freckles that were supposed to have disappeared to round fat faces and big jaws.
So the real question is, do women see themselves as others see them? In a nutshell, the answer is no. No they don’t. women see themselves as less of everything.
So, how do you make women see themselves as others see them? You quite simply show them. And this is where Dove comes in.
Dove got together seven women of different age groups, backgrounds and races and had Gil Zamora – FBI trained artist, create sketches of them based on their descriptions. The women had earlier spent time with strangers whom they were told to just be friendly with. Later, Gil asked these strangers to describe the women and created sketches based on the strangers’ descriptions. The results were astounding.
The description of the video says: “Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.”
See for yourself and find out how others see you. “You are more beautiful than you think”
