Now this is definitely a kind gesture. A recent letter to the editor by Mary Hicks from Thunder Bay talks about the recent kind experience she had with her son while shopping. During shopping her son asked her to purchase a new bike for him, as his’ was stolen some time ago. Sadly, Mary had to explain her that they did not have enough money to afford a new bike.

Mary recalls that suddenly ‘a large man covered in tattoos, who was playing hockey in the aisle with another boy’, approached her son and handed over $350 to him and said: “No child should ever be without a bike in the summer.” For a moment Mary could not believe as to what had happened. The man named Jimbo gave her a smile, high-fived her son and then went away.

It was definitely a cherishing and emotional moment for Mary. She went on ahead in her letter that the community we live in is sliding downhill with crime. When she saw this man, his appearance made her nervous, but the selfless action of this individual that made her soon happy will never be forgotten.

The incident undoubtedly proves that even with the morals of our community declining there are people who are ready to help others without expecting any benefits in return. The letter after being posted on Reddit has gained massive attention with people expressing their own views regarding the incident and also about similar experiences they went through.

One Redditor said: ‘A tattooed man named Jimbo handed me $350 in small unmarked bills as well once. It wasn't for a bike though, it was for drugs’.

Another commented: ‘Thank you for posting this, such a great anecdote!’
