India celebrated its 63rd Republic Day on Thursday, January 26th 2012. Republic Day is a national celebration that honors when India became an independent Republic on Jan. 26, 1950. Republic Day commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India. It's one of India's three national holidays.
Flight Lieutenant Sneha Shekhawat from Rajasthan created history when she led the Air Force contingent, becoming the first woman pilot ever to do so.
But that was not the only interesting thing that happened on the Indian Republic Day yesterday. Finnair also decided to join in the celebration. When the passengers on Finnair flight from Helsinki to Delhi boarded they had no idea what they were going to witness.
Clad in eastern outfits, marched out a whole gang of flight attendants with their hands clasped in ‘Namaste’, they positioned themselves in the ailes and surprised the passengers headed to India with a flash mob on Bollywood song “Om Shanti Om.” The adorable effort of these attendants to move in Hindi-style dance was remarkable and touching.
Their adorable comical performance was watched by happy passengers who cheered on and applauded. This Finnish Airlines obviously caught on camera and posted on their YouTube handle finnair.
I am sure this must have left a memorable mark on all the passengers. Finnair surely knows how to entertain their passenges!
