A 15-year old from Ohio was rushed to the hospital after he collapses following a gaming marathon session of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Tyler Rigsby who was admitted in Ohio State University Medical Center suffered from dehydration after a session that lasted between four to five days.
The gaming freak only took breaks during the game when he had to use the bathroom, have a snack or take a shower.
According to his aunt Jennifer Thompson, "It's like he was looking at me but he wasn't there. It was like he was looking through me."
"We were talking and I heard a thump and I looked over and he just fell."
Tyler turned pale and his lips were blue. The incident is definitely scary, but it could have been far worse. Marathon play sessions are turning an extreme menace and pose a serious threat to people participating in it.
This can further be manifested from the fact that last month two gaming enthusiasts lost their lives after marathon play sessions. Last month, an 18-year old player in Taiwan lost his life after taking part in 40-hour marathon session of Diablo III.
Earlier, in February another Taiwan gamer suffered a fatal heart attack while playing League on Legends in an internet café. In comparison to these cases Tyler was definitely luckier.
Gaming on the whole is a good activity to engage in, but the addiction of it can definitely lead to disastrous effects.
