The shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino was tragic as well as frightening but there was a hero many owe their life to.

True spirits of people come out in troubling times. For the people at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino there was much fear and not enough hope as attackers opened fire Wednesday. As in all times of terror, first responders stormed the scene, less concerned with their own lives than serving in the line of duty.

One such officer is seen in this video, released to Southern California Public Radio, guiding frightened people, including a little kid, to safety.

He can be heard telling them, "I'll take a bullet before you do."

That’s what a true hero sounds like.
