So, can you propose to your girlfriend in less than 140 characters? Well, one Irish lady actually did and succeeded! Etain Kidney proposed to her girlfriend Michelle Walls on Wednesday by beaming "Michelle, will you marry me?" onto the wall of the Boland's Mill building at Grand Canal Dock in Dublin.
The proposal was possible due to AOL's "#MerryAOL" Twitter campaign. AOL asked people to send their holiday tweets using the hashtag #MerryAOL, and the best ones chosen were displayed on the side wall of the building.
Etain told Gay Community News,"I just wanted to do something special for her. I got in touch with AOL and Thinkhouse who made it happen.”"It was great to have all our friends there. I got to make a big deal of Michelle and it's so beautiful down on the dock -- couldn't ask for much more!" Kidney said.
So, now those who are thinking of proposing their girlfriends; if you can’t think of a larger than life flash mob or any other bizarre idea… Twitter is there, don’t worry.
