Is the look of having a bagel stuffed under one’s forehead skin ‘cute’? According to National Geographic some trendy youngsters in Japan seem to think so. And they’re proving it by having giant saline bubbles injected into their foreheads. As a matter of fact, these temporary forehead injections have become a keen part of the Japanese ‘body modification’.

Here’s how the entire process is done: technicians first insert a needle into the forehead and inject up to 400 cc of saline which is adequate enough to create a blob on the forehead. The blob or the large bubble takes about two hours to form completely.

Once formed completely, the practitioner removes the drip and presses his or her thumb in the middle of the blob. The result is the formation of a large, bagel-like shaped on the person’s forehead. However, the effect of the treatment is only temporary. Within 24 hours the saline is absorbed back into the body.
