It has been 50 years since Marilyn Monroe’s death and the Hollywood icon still has everyone wanting a piece of her. In an interview with Photographer George Barris he discusses the never before seen pictures he revealed of Marilyn Monroe just a weeks before her death.
Barris recalls meeting Marilyn Monroe in 1954 on the set of the movie The Seven Year Itch. George Barris. “Marilyn gave of herself completely and the people really loved this girl. The first picture I took just happened spontaneously,” stated Barris. That first picture of Marilyn Monroe that George Barris took caught her by surprise. It was a picture of Marilyn leaning out of a window. When she saw that he took her picture she said, “I’ll take a dozen of those.” And that was the beginning of their friendship.
During the interview with George he spoke about a week he spent with Marilyn Monroe in Santa Monica. They hung out together and spent a lot of time at the beach, which is where most of the photos he recently released were taken. It was a bittersweet moment for George as he was grateful for the time he got to spend with Marilyn, but sad because this happened only a few weeks before Marilyn Monroe's death.
