Pepsi launched its new product called "Pepsi Special," this week in Japan. What is new about this product is its claim to be a fat-blocking drink! So, this is a step up from Diet Pepsi.
They have used "indigestible dextrin," that is dietary fiber which helps people to lose weight by lessening their body’s ability to absorb fat and making them defecate more to get rid of the rest. It will also make them feel fuller. Wow? Right? Well, what sounds too good to be true, probably is.
Only time will tell how many pounds and inches will this new soda make the consumer lose! The release said Pepsi Special will have a "crisp, refreshing, and unique" aftertaste. Just the word after taste leaves a bad taste in the mouth!
Dextrin is said to have a lot of benefits but what about the rest of it?
Do you know, diet soda helps in gaining weight rather than losing it? It happens mainly because the artificial sweeteners used. The sweet taste of diet pop also alerts our digestive system that high-calorie foods are coming. When they don't, our bodies are confused and our appetite increases in anticipation of the food it's expecting.
Soda destroys the tooth enamel.
It increase the risk of kidney problems
It’s acidic and can be very harmful to the stomach lining. But even before the acidity of soft drink reaches the stomach it passes through all the other organs involved in the digestive system causing an abnormal acidic environment. The linings of the mouth, pharynx and esophagus are highly sensitive to acids.
The phosphoric acid in the soda can also cause bone loss by making calcium in the bloodstream to be excreted more quickly than normal through urine.
So, yes, the fiber in the new Pepsi Special may have its benefits, but will it negate the other far more damaging effects that drinking a soda beverage causes that we hardly think about!
This is nothing more than pulling wool on the consumers’ eyes as well as their senses which isextremely bad ethically. But that’s what companies do. So all those jumping for joy out there for the miraculous, waist shrinking soda, please resist. Your brittle bones may not be able to take it!
