Orthorexia: When Eating Healthy Turns Dangerous

by
How can eating healthy be a bad thing? Orthorexia is a glaring example of how too much of a good thing can hurt you.

Eating healthy and consciously is a great thing but if it becomes an obsession, it becomes a problem.

Orthorexia nervosa is a medical condition in which the sufferer becomes obsessed with eating healthy and systematically avoids specific foods in the belief that they are harmful — so much so that the healthy diet itself becomes a problem.

Eating too much of the same thing and not eating others at all create an imbalance and lack of nourishment. It also reaches a point where a person suffering from orthorexia is unable to trust anyone else with their food, spend a great deal of time immaculately planning and preparing their food and become a nervous wreck just at the thought of eating out.
