It’s about time someone took a stand for models health and fitness, though it is not the first time, this campaign by Brazilian modeling agency Star Models, is a welcoming one!
The fate of the late French model and anti anorexia campaign’s face Isabelle Caro is worth mentioning. Caro was featured in an ad campaign by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007under the headline "No Anorexia." She died in 2012.
Star Models have released an anti anti-anorexia ad campaign, using Photoshop to turn models into life-size fashion illustrations with corresponding typically exaggerated proportions model.
It has a tag line which goes,’ Say no to anorexia,’ and ‘You are not a sketch.’
There has thankfully been a rise in awareness in recent years. More and more normal and even plus size models are being put on magazine covers and ramps. Now, if only people, modeling agencies and models themselves understand that! Even youngsters have started seeing beyond the 0-sized images portrayed and are opting for healthier looks.
But the battle is far from won. Here’s hoping a healthy look gets appreciated and the trends of un naturally thin models takes a rest!
