Women have come a long way in the last century. It's hard to believe that women couldn't vote in the United States less than one hundred years ago. After that legal victory, there were myriad cultural hurdles to overcome, many of them related to breaking into the workforce and ascending to leadership positions.
Today, women enjoy many of the hard fought victories won by their predecessors, but society still harbors pockets of conservatism when it comes to a woman's place in society. Paula Schargorodsky discovered one of these pockets when she turned 30 and was still single.
