Lawrence Russell Brewer has ruined it for everybody else on death row in Texas who hoped to have a final last meal of their choice in their life. Brewer was executed by lethal injection on Wednesday for his involvement in the dragging death of James Byrd in 1998.

For his final meal, Brewer requested two chicken fried steaks, an omelet, fried ochre, three fajitas, ice cream, a pound of barbeque, fudge, a pizza, and three root beers. To top it off, he didn’t even eat it. Similarly Troy Davis who was executed on Wednesday as well, also refused to eat his last meal.

Chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee Senator John Whitemire  opposed the practice of letting inmates have a final last meal. Whitemire stated “It is extremely inappropriate to give a person sentenced to death such a privilege. One which the perpetrator did not provide to their victim”.

Because of this, now death row inmates’ final meal will be the same as the rest of the inmates. But is this fair? Should inmates be allowed their choice of food for their final meal? Or do you think they should not be allowed to have such a privilege? Check out the video below and let us know what you think.
