Things trend over the internet all the time but some of them might be pretty alarming!Teenagers somehow find ample time to do a lot of things on photo blogging sites and now they end up ‘slut-shaming’ each other!
An extremely disturbing trend, known as ‘slut-shaming,’ is fuelling these days with the help of various microblogging sites such as Tumblr, Reddit and Facebook.
Teenagers callously criticize each other in these posts for certain body types and choices.
A blogger in on e such post writes with accompanying pictures: ‘Hey girls, did you know –that you spread Nutella… Not your legs?’
So the question is how it began? How a few little pictures started a meme-based rant against women and girls? The answer to this question is the image below:
‘Hey Girls, Did You Know’ post, started this fussy slut-shaming phenomenon which was posted by an Instagram blogger officialsabrina_xo. She satirically mocked the trend of cleavage photos by pointing out that “your boobs go inside your shirt.”
Officialsabrina_xo’s image was removed shortly but by that time, the image was reblogged several times across Tumblr. Starting on June 18th, 2012, the image of the girl was reblogged across the internet, igniting the meme!
While most of them are simple inoffensive and harmless memes, others point out what they pick out to be as the inadequacies of their peers.
So, this is how a few little pictures started a meme-based tirade against girls… the interesting thing is that it was initiated by none other than girls themselves!
These days’ social media has made it pretty easy for users to attack others as it certainly provides a quick coalition against an enemy who is dissimilar! Internet provides you great many things to do, but one of the most harmful and negative is slut-shaming!
