The Unethical Truth Of ‘The Rich Kids Of Instagram’ On Tumblr

‘They Have More Money than You and This Is What They Do,’ is what says below the heading ‘Rich Kids Of Instagram,’ a widely popular blog on Tumblr which posts up instagram photos of the rich and wealthy people in golden frames.

‘The Rich Kids Of Instagram’ is an inside look at the lavish and carefree lives of kids who have unlimited money.  However shocking these pictures maybe to some people, the blog is a representation of the wasteful lives of the wealthy. They can afford the luxuries one can only dream of, but isn’t this cheap publicity of rich 20-somethings for people to voyeuristically look at?

Annabel Schwartz doesn’t seem to agree. The 19 year old and her friends pose in front of a helicopter in St. Tropez, France, for a photo which became very popular on the blog. A sophomore at University Of Miami and creator of fashion line ‘Sibling Rivalry’, Annabel considers herself and others who have been embarrassed by this blog, more substantial than their never ending bank accounts. She considers the attention as unwelcomed and undignified.

While Annabel’s vacation photos in St. Tropez aren’t the only photos that leave us shocked at the extravagant lifestyles, the anonymous author of the Tumblr has put up more than 20 instagram photos of a Porsche birthday present, poolside mansions, private yachts and jets and bottles of expensive champagne.

And along with these over indulging teenagers, the famous families of hotel businesses also make an appearance on the blog. Tiffany Trump, daughter of millionaire Donald Trump posted a collage of pictures of the interior her private plane and the exterior which bears the family’s name.

The Hilton family could obviously not have been left out of this as one photo shows Barron Hilton having walks on the beach in the Hamptons with a young blonde.

Like Annabel Schwartz said, this is unattractive publicity for her and her friends and she believes it would be better if the blog was taken down.
