Does happiness lead to success or success to happiness? Obviously we’re oversimplifying things just by asking that question, but perhaps the causality arrow points more in one direction than the other.
A group of researchers decided to figure this out. Their method: give people a puzzle, but first make one group happy with candy and gifts (in some ways, we are simple creatures). Then time them to see how long they take to complete the task (or if they complete it at all).
This video, done by the charming people at Soul Pancake, should be seen more as a simulation of the experiment more than an experiment itself (due to their very small sample size), but it demonstrates a point that has been shown by more thorough research.
