If you are skeptical about the idea of true love or don’t believe you’ll ever find your soul mate, here’s an amazing story to make you believe it’s never too late for anyone to find their perfect partner.
A 70-year-old man proposed to a 67-year-old-woman who he met at the local church in Alabama, she said yes, and their engagement pictures went viral.
Cleveland 'Murphy' Wilson was married to his wife Antoinette for 41 years. He never thought marrying another woman was a possibility after his wife passed away.
“We were very, very, very close, he recalled. “I discovered about myself I'm not built to be a bachelor. I didn't like being by myself. We were like one person for 41 years. We literally said, ‘To have and to hold 'til death do us part’ and that was what we went through. But I got to a point where I recognized I still have a lot of love left.”
After this self realization, Wilson started visiting the local church that he used to with his wife and stopped after her sad departure. In 2013, he met Lucinda Myers who had just moved there from Boston – and they discovered love all over again.
The 67-year-old had been married before but got a divorce and was living by herself for past 30 years.
The two developed an inclination after noticing each other. Both made sure to look their best at the church while praying and did this for three years before finally speaking with each other.
And then the best happened.
Myers wanted Wilson to approach first, but he didn’t and was missing from church for a couple of weeks. When he re-joined, Myers decided to take charge.
"I haven't seen your beautiful smile lately," she told him.
The rest was history.
The love birds started dating before getting engaged.
“My sister had invited Lucinda and her friend Nancy to come over, which gave me more opportunity to talk to her some more,” Wilson recalled. “And we did. I had a chance to take her home, and we talked some more and I got her phone number and what not. And it’s just been one whirlwind courtship after.”
“I didn’t think it was gonna happen twice. I was dead wrong. This woman is everything that I need at this point and time in my life, and I’m grateful to God for putting us together,” he mentioned.
The feeling was mutual.
“He has a beautiful smile. I love him so much. He has such a calm demeanor about him. The Lord just put us together for a reason. We're just so happy. I couldn't have asked for a better mate,” Myers exclaimed.
The couple was then encouraged to take some engagement pictures. Hesitant at first, they finally said yes to the photo session on Wilson’s daughter’s insisting.
Professional photographer Gianna Snell was hired to do the job – and her pictures are marvelous.
They soon went viral online, giving everybody some serious love goals.
"Sure, people of all ages get proposals all the time and we see engagement photos on the regular, but social media is captivated by this image. Why? Because it gives so many hope that they should never give up on their dream of finding love," Snell mentioned on her blog.
They are set to tie the knot this month.
"She swept me off my feet," the 70-year-old told ABC News of his 67-year-old bride-to-be. "I just fell in love with this gorgeous woman. And of course she fell in love with me because of my charm and suave."
