Valentine’s Day 2013 is almost here. To people in a relationship (if you celebrate Valentine’s Day) that’s a good thing. But if you are single (and that bothers you) it could be a sad reminder of the fact that you are not in a relationship. Some people even dub Valentine’s Day as “singles awareness day”. So if you are one of those cynics that rejects Valentine’s Day and would like to be in a relationship then look no further! Match.com actually took an unscientific survey to see what it is that people look for in someone when dating. According to Match.com’s survey below are the top 5 things people look for when dating.
The number one thing people said they looked for when dating is the other person’s teeth. They said, “That person must have a nice smile.” It might seem really shallow, and on some levels it is. But your teeth do say a lot more about you than you think. They signify health and hygiene. So be sure to brush and floss twice a day. You could also whiten them, just in case.
Using proper grammar is a must when it comes to attracting a mate. A reason was not given as to why this is so important to men and women. One can only guess that it may be because it makes the other person seem unintelligent and uneducated.
Clothes were important to women and men. But they were a little bit more important to women in the survey. They did not specify as to if it meant expensive clothes or just the way a person dresses. Dressing appropriate is always important. How you dress can be an expression of your inward self.
Hair was considered a very important thing to men when they were looking to date a woman. For women, it was less important than clothing but still important. Hair is very important to a lot of people psychologically, that may be why there is such a huge industry just for hair.
Trust & Respect
Sadly trust and respect were lower on the scale of what people said they looked for in a mate. However, this could be because things like trust and respect are not things that a person can initially see with their eyes. Trust and respect are things that we have to experience as we get to know a person. They may be lower on a list, but they are the highest in priority because without them relationships are sure to fail.
