2009 PMC Raises $30 Million For Cancer Research

"There was plenty of energy and excitement at the House of Blues in Boston on Saturday night, as one of the nations best known cancer fundraisers celebrated a major milestone. This summer, nearly 5,000 riders pedaled across Massachusetts in the 30th Pan Mass Challenge. Saturday night, the PMC presented a check to The Jimmy Fund. The event started small, but quickly grew into an organized, efficient raiser of funds for cancer research. ""What a wonderful road its been,"" PMC founder Billy Starr said. ""The PMC has provided a vehicle for so many people to find a way to fund cancer research."" On Saturday night, Starr announced that the 2009 PMC raised an appropriate $30 million, bringing the 30-year total to $270 million for cancer research."
