Egypt’s military rulers are facing condemnation at every hand from the West. But now they have received a powerful support from Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz, who has publically backed Egypt in its fight “against terrorism” and has discouraged international interference.
While warning against outside interference on Saudi television, in an apparent reference to continuing clashes between the Muslim Brotherhood and police, he said, "All those who meddle in Egypt's internal affairs are inflaming strife.”
Keeping in view his statement, here are three possible consequences of international condemnation ofGen. El-Sissi’sviolent crackdown in Egypt.
1. Egypt’s Military rulers will increase their efforts in repressing the Brotherhood.
2. Muslim Brotherhood Protestors might get aggravated in fighting against the military.
3. The Gulf Emirates and the Saudis might increase their support to the military ruler and his fight against the Brotherhood.
The backlash to the International condemnation might result in the above mentioned outcomes which highlight how this may contribute in worsening the situation of Egypt.
Already hundreds have suffered bullet wounds from the army and have lost their lives in the ongoing clashes between security forces and protestors and despite of the difficulties a peaceful political solution must be formulated and lives of Egyptians must be protected.
What’s your take on the entire situation?
