34 Suspected Al Qaeda Militants Killed By Security Forces

"Up to 34 suspected Al Qaeda members were killed when security forces struck the terrorists' hideouts and training sites in Yemen on Thursday. Among the dead were four suicide bombers plotting murder locally and abroad, the Associated Press reports. ""These individuals (suicide bombers) planned to strike at schools as well as interests at home and abroad,"" a ministry statement said. The foreign countries the militants allegedly planned to strike were not identified. At least 17 suspected terrorists were also arrested during the operation. Security official Saleh el-Shamsy said airstrikes were followed by a ground attack of a training camp in Abyan province, killing up to 30 militants. The Interior Ministry said the four suicide bombers were killed in the Arhab district and those who were arrested, four of whom were also would-be suicide bombers, were caught outside San'a."
