As mass shootings have become a recurring issue in the United States, more lockdown and active shooter drills have been implemented on school campuses, instilling fear into children.
Michigan mother Stacey Feeley took a picture of her daughter standing on top of a toilet. She initially thought that she was just being a mischievous little girl, but, in actuality, she learned that her daughter was practicing a lockdown drill she learned at school, according to CNN.
"Politicians— take a look. This is your child, your children, your grandchildren, your great grand-children and future generations to come," Feeley wrote on Facebook. "They will live their lives and grow up in this world based on your decision."
Feeley’s daughter learned how to prepare for a lockdown at her preschool just a few days after the Orlando shooting tragedy.
Politicians tend to address the issue of gun control without having an affirmative plan of action for implementing stricter gun control laws in the United States.
Facebook user Emily Poulson shared her thoughts on KSL 5 TV’s page about the child learning a lockdown drill at her school.
“It is a necessary drill. It is not politics that forced this, it’s the evil in the world that’s willing to walk into a school and shoot young women,” Poulson wrote.
Congress is long overdue to pass firmer gun restriction laws and needs to consider if preschoolers should learn about gun violence.
