Early Wednesday, a four-year-old Oregon girl saved her badly injured sister from a car crash that killed their mother.
Aryanna Rath dragged Lylah Huff, 2, out of the vehicle and wrapped both of their bodies in a blanket and waited for help. The accident happened after their mother reportedly fell asleep at the wheel when she was driving to Westport to pick up her husband from a fishing boat trip.
Both the girls stayed next to the wreckage for eight hours in extreme weather on State Highway 401 south of Naselle. They finally got help around 8:30 a.m. after two commercial fishermen Wash Kraai McClure and Scott Beutler suspected that something was apparently wrong.
Girls' father, Keaton Huff, refused interview requests and asked the hospital not to give any statement about his daughter's condition.
Little Aryanna must’ve been really brave to do what she did. Even adults can’t handle situations like these most of the times. It must be very traumatizing for her to see her mother lying dead but still she didn’t give up and rescued her sister.
Aryanna is a true hero. Let’s just hope these little angels recover soon.
