5 Facts Even Pakistanis Didn’t Know About Osama Bin Laden

Finally, the report on Osama bin Laden’s killing on May 2, 2011 has been leaked. The much-awaited document has revealed a lot of astonishing information that even Pakistanis didn’t know despite the fact that the world’s most wanted man was living among then for almost a decade!

Let’s discuss each fact and analyze how much Osama bin Laden was hiding, apart from himself of course, from the world and especially Pakistanis.

1-      He Used To Watch Television:

Pakistanis didn’t have the slightest idea that Osama bin Laden, the master of all militants, would own a television set. It’s just crazy. Who would’ve thought that a man fighting against Western cultural “invasion” had cable television at home! This fact is as astonishing for Pakistanis as it is for other people in the world.

2-      He Wore A Cowboy Hat To Hide His Identity:

This is even more shocking than the television set! The man actually wore a cowboy hat as disguise. It is a miracle that he managed to do so for nine years because in Pakistan, NO one is used to watching people wearing such hats or any hats for that matter. In fact, a person wearing a cowboy hat attracts more attention! How did he manage to fool us all these years?

3-      His Vehicle Was Stopped For Speeding:

According to one source, Bin Laden’s vehicle was once stopped in Swat (a popular tourist spot in Pakistan) for speeding. But police officers unsurprisingly failed to recognize him somewhere in 2002 or 2003. Another reason to be proud of our security.

4-      He Was Living Near The Military Academy Near Abbotabad:

Even if, for once, Pakistanis would have known that the notorious Bin Laden was living amongst them, they wouldn’t have imagined him living near the popular military academy in Abbotabad. This fact was not only shocking and outrageous; it was also embarrassing and depressing for the Pakistani population who are mostly very (very) proud of their armed forces.

5-      He Actually Existed!

The last and probably the most unbelievable fact about Osama bin Laden, especially for the people of Pakistan, was that he actually existed! There is a considerable amount of Pakistanis who believe that the man didn’t exist and that he was anything but real. In fact, even when the news of his existence and immediately after that, his death was broken, people still thought that the whole thing was just another made-up story. There are many conspiracy theories regarding Osama bin Laden in Pakistan but then again, it is a completely different topic.

This take on Osama bin Laden’s death and life might be in poor taste, for some. But this is an indirect message to the Pakistani government, military and intelligence agencies how embarrassing the whole matter has proven to be for Pakistan. Their ‘incompetence’ is not just a source of political shame, but has also dishonored Pakistanis as a nation.

Even if the conspiracy theories are true, the fact they were unable to stop May 2 from happening is humiliating, very humiliating. And now, we have an official report as evidence. Just great.
