Children are curious about everything.
Mostly their untimely and inappropriate queries may result in sheer embarrassment for the parents, but for one particular boy, this habit became a source of pride.
Alabama mom Ava Faulk must be extremely proud of her 5-year-old, whose habit of questioning led to a heartwarming moment.
Faulk and her son Josiah Duncan were eating at a Waffle House in Prattville, when the little boy spotted a disheveled man holding a dirty old bag outside the restaurant. Feeling curious and a little concerned, the 5-year-old immediately inquired his mom about the man.
Once the mother explained that the man outside is homeless and doesn’t have anyone to support him, the child became troubled by the idea that he didn’t have any food to eat and asked Faulk to buy the stranger a good meal. The mother obliged and invited the unnamed man inside.
“He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him,” she told a local television. “So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can't order without one.”
As hospitable as he was being, it was the little boy’s next gesture that left all the other patrons teary-eyed.
After the man’s food arrived, Duncan insisted on saying the blessing with him.
And then – with 11 other customers watching – he sang the blessing as loud as he could and thanked God for the food.
“The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried,” Faulk admitted. “You never know who the angel on Earth is, and when the opportunity comes you should never walk away from it. Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I'll ever get to witness.”
The man left after eating the food, and even though the mother-son duo didn’t find out his name or his destination, he will likely never forget Duncan’s touching gesture.
