Timberlake Christian Schools administrators in Virginia tells a girl who likes short hair and playing in the mud that she must dress more feminine or leave. Sunnie Kahle is heartbroken, her grandparents say, while the school maintains its right to “refuse enrollment for condoning sexual immorality, practicing a homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity.”

A Christian school in Virginia gave a choice to a girl who prefers sneakers, short hair and playing outside to supposed "Biblical standards" clothes for girls: dress more feminine or leave.

Sunnie Kahle's grandparents were stunned to receive the letter from Timberlake Christian Schools in Forest, Va., that said confusion about the 8-year-old's gender was grounds to remove her from school.

"We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education," the letter from principal Becky Bowman read in part, according to WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Va.

Sunnie's grandparents, who adopted her, talk about what the school's decision means for the little girl and her education.
