Al Qaeda Mastermind Living In Britain Faces Extradition To The US

An alleged Al Qaeda mastermind living in Britain faces extradition to the United States on terrorism charges, it emerged last night. Abid Naseer, 24, is wanted by the U.S. authorities for planning a bomb attack and providing 'material support' to the international terror group. The Pakistani national was arrested in the North-West of England last year, accused of planning a 'mass casualty attack' in this country. Intelligence suggested he was part of a group intent on killing hundreds of shoppers in the Arndale Centre in Manchester. But police were unable to find enough evidence to press charges and instead ministers attempted to deport Naseer back to his home country. Those efforts floundered in May when a senior immigration judge said sending him back to Pakistan would breach his human rights.
