It seems that NBC’s weather man Al Rokerreally wanted to score the first post-inauguration “interview” with second term Barack Obama.
Beyond excited, Roker got President Obama’s attention by screaming like a teenaged fan girl! He was standing in the crowd and was egged on by his colleagues Brian Williams and David Gregory as they wondered if he would be able to get the president's attention or not.
When Obama drew near, Roker screamed at him from behind a barricade, “Mr. President! Mr. President! Mr. President! How’s it going?”
President Obama to his and everyone’s astonishment turned to acknowledge the veteran broadcaster. "It's going great!" he said, flashing thumbs up at Roker.
"IS THE WEATHER GOOD?" Roker shouted. "It's great!" replied Obama.
"There you have it, the first interview with the newly-inaugurated 44th president of the United States," Williams said.
Then things got even more exciting for Roker whenJoe Biden walked by and he actually managed to get to shake hands with the newly re-inaugurated Vice President .
Roker out of amazement gave a mic drop and walked away saying"I'm done!''
Al Roker’s presence is becoming an inauguration parade tradition. Al Roker waits on the sidelines for the president and vice president to pass and makes sure that he is noticed by them!
In 2009, Roker got President Barack Obama to crack a joke about the weather when he told him, "It's warm,'' as he walked down Pennsylvania Avenue on a sunny day. Check out the video:
One thing is for sure; Al Roker is anything but shy to take up a challenge that is why he managed getting a thumbs-up from the president and a full-on handshake from Vice President Joe Biden.
