Update: Wildlife staff recently killed the 9-foot alligator that attacked and injured a man near Disney World, according to The Independent.
A 58-year-old man was attacked by an alligator an hour away from where 2-year-old Lane Graves was attacked at Disney World in Florida.
The man was rushed to the hospital for injuries and the alligator was euthanized by a gator trapper, according to People.
The alligator that attacked the man was 9 feet long, according to CBS.
Sheriff Jerry Demings of the Orange County, Florida, police announced in a press conference police recovered the remains of the 2-year old dragged into the water by an alligator.
The deceased was identified as Lane Graves of Elk Horn, Nebraska.
The search team of about 50 people, including trappers and divers, searched Disney's network of man-made canals, ponds and lakes in a desperate race to save Lane after the incident. At least five other alligators were caught and cut open before they found the killer.
Lane had been playing in about 1 foot of water in the lagoon at Disney’s Grand Floridian resort. His father Matt Graves tried in vain to wrestle the boy from the 5- to 7-foot alligator.
Police and wildlife officials launched an investigation into the safety of beaches at Walt Disney World and all nine Disney World resort beaches were closed after the unfortunate attack.
