The backlash against Target and its transgender bathroom policy seems to be increasing. Conservative Christian groups are storming the retail stores all across the country to protest the Minneapolis-based discounter’s stance allowing customers and employees to use the restroom or fitting room that “corresponds to their gender identity.”
While the LGBT rights activists have appreciated and commended the retailer’s exceptional move, an online petition to boycott Target over transgender-inclusive bathrooms has surpassed a million signatures. In fact, the conservative protesters have begun storming Target stores to preach the staff and customers about the teachings of Bible.
Moreover, the American Family Association, a conservative group listed as a hate group with the Southern Poverty Law Center, is even “testing” Target’s new policy by sending men into the women’s bathrooms in the retail stores in order to drive their point across — instead of just choosing to boycott the store as many initially threatened.
“I think there’s no question that when you say that there are no barriers in the bathroom, and that if men or women feel like they are men or women, the opposite of however they are equipped, and you have no restrictions, the net effect will be, people will not be stopped,” American Family Association's director of government affairs, Sandy Rios, told Breitbart. “We’ve already had people testing this, going into Targets and men trying to go into bathrooms. There is absolutely no barrier.”
These people seem to believe being transgender means men dressed like women, thanks to former Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, but their ignorance can actually traumatize people, particularly children, for life.
In addition to that, some conservative Christians in Portland, Oregon, have also taken it upon themselves to invade Target stores and yell at staff and customers to “repent.”
“Target, this is your wake-up call!” a man bellows in the video below.
Another video, reportedly filmed in Hendersonville, Tennessee, shows a pair of men creating a similar disturbance inside another store.
Other videos show anti-LGBT activists wearing neon yellow T-shirts reading “Repent or Perish” as they scream at customers.

In one particularly alarming case, customers at a Target store in Bradley, Illinois, thought a protester was actually an active shooter, which led to a 911 call on Monday.
However, when the police arrived at the scene, there were no indications of shots having been fired. Michael Merichko, the man protesting the inclusive bathroom policy, was arrested “without incident.”
He now faces charges for disorderly conduct.
