Animals sweltering in a Rio de Janeiro zoo enjoy icy treats as a summer heat wave grips the city.

They were treated to fruit and meat-laced frozen tidbits as Brazil's summer temperatures soared to as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit, or almost 50 degrees Celsius.

Zoo technician, Karla Cunha said that visitors enjoy watching the animals tuck into their icy treats.

And for some animals, the cooling process happens inside and out.
