The anti-Obama documentary known 2016: has surpassed all other movies opening this weekend in terms of box office collections. The documentary film was able to collect $2.2 million outperforming other openers such as ‘Premium Rush’ and the comedy ‘Hit and Run’.
The documentary is based on conservative Indian-American writer Dinesh D’Souza’s book ‘The Roots Of Obama Rage’. A poster for the movie shows a profile of President Obama cast against a hazy fog with a tagline saying, "Love Him, Hate Him, You Don't Know Him."
The film has been able to secure fourth position overall on box office. The Expendables 2 occupies top position followed by Jeremy Renner ‘The Bourne Legacy’ at second place and animated flick ‘ParaNorman’ snagging third place.
The documentary is expected to bow down with a total earning of $6 million by the end of this week.
