Atlantic City Mayor

While President Obama and Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie showed a united effort to control the devastating situation left by superstorm Sandy, the mayor of Atlantic City did not get much attention.

The Democratic mayor, Lorenzo Langford, was left out from the much publicized appearance of President Obama and Chris Christie. As the two leaders took off in Marine One for a four-hour aerial tour, Langford was left alone in the airplane hangar.

A journalist named (@wendyruderman) found this as an appropriate opportunity to tweet a picture of Langford sitting helplessly on a leather couch in the hangar. Even after hours of waiting, Langford only got two minutes to chat with President Obama.

‘He just wanted me essentially to reassure all of our Atlantic City residents, particularly those who are still in shelters, that his thoughts and prayers and the full weight of the federal government, particularly FEMA, is at their disposal,’Langford said of Obama.

It is important to mention here that Langford after the storm began criticizing Christie, instead of focusing with the clean-up process or dealing with the homeless residents.
