Gazans are returning to what used to be their home. The 72-hour cease-fire brokered by international community saw broken and bloodied people of Gaza returning to their homes from UN shelters.
Officials say the war on Gaza waged by Israel has killed 1,834 Palestinians, most of them civilians. Israel says 3 of its civilians and 64 soldiers have been killed since the offensive began on July 8.
"Mission accomplished," the military tweeted.
However, it is expected that tanks would be "redeployed in defensive positions outside the Gaza Strip and we will maintain those defensive positions," according to spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner.
As for what awaits the Gazans when they go back home? Nothing but rubble. These pictures tell the true story of what went on in the almost four-week-long Israel offensive on Gaza.
