It is sometimes shocking and unbelievable, the act of brutality that a human being can commit so easily. A couple has been accused of killing a nine-month-old baby boy by injecting him with cocaine and heroin.
Oscar Sanchez-Rivera, 24, and Viameri Santana-Berrios, 27, were babysitting the boy when he died from a drug overdose. Upon medical examination it was revealed that the child had undigested cocaine and heroin in his body along with needle marks on his hands and feet. It was further revealed in a court in Philadelphia that the young victim known as Milton Rojas had enough drugs in his body to compare him with a drug mule-a slang used for people who smuggles drugs in their body.
Oscar and his girlfriend Santana-Berrios will go on trial on third degree murder charges following a five hour hearing into the circumstances that led to boy’s death. Paramedic Dale Schroder told the court that the child was cool to the touch, pale and unresponsive, and all efforts to revive the child went in vain.
The kid was then taken to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead. The defendants gave statements to detectives claiming the boy, who had a history of breathing problems, began snoring, stopped breathing and turned blue.
The couple blamed the mother for the child’s overdose which was denied by the prosecutor that the child died within six hours of being injected with drug, and during all this time the bay was in the care of these two people.
