SURREY, B.C. - A British Columbia gangster with crime connections across Canada and the world has been shot dead in Mexico.
RCMP Chief Supt. Dan Malo says Thomas Gisby was killed in a Starbucks in Nuevo Vallarta at 9 p.m. PT on Friday.
Malo says Gisby was the head of his own gang, known as the Gisby Group, and made his profit by bringing illegal guns and drugs into B.C.
He says Gisby, who was about 50 and from the Fraser Valley, associated with many gangs and that police are now concerned about retaliation.
Malo says Mounties were aware that Gisby was in Mexico and that he was a target.
