Ben Carson, who has said “political correctness is ruining our country,” has rather dangerous plans for free speech when (if!) he is president.
During the "rapid-fire" segment of the Glenn Beck Radio Program, Beck asked whether Carson would shut down the Department of Education.
"I actually have something I would use the Department of Education to do," Carson responded. "It would be to monitor our institutions of higher education for extreme political bias and deny federal funding if it exists."
In plain words, Carson would gladly implement censorship on free speech and diversity of opinions once he is in charge – and that, quite obviously, violates the right to freedom of speech guaranteed by the First Amendment.
Ben Carson has already provided abundant proof of his ignorance of the Constitution. Last month, he suggested a person’s religious affiliation should matter when running for president when, in fact, according to Article VI of the Constitution, it shouldn’t.
But this time around, by stating his intentions to attack freedom of thought on college campuses, the retired neurosurgeon has proven he has no interest whatsoever in the supreme law of the country he plans to run someday.
One wonders, then, why on earth Carson is currently at the top of the Republican field. As per the latest CNN/ORC poll, Carson has gained eight points over the last 30 days and has joined Donald Trump as the only two candidates with support above 20 percent.
