Fox News host Bill O’Reilly slammed Jon Stewart’s criticism of his Super Bowl interview with Barack Obama on Wednesday, adding The Daily Show host unfairly sided with the president.
O’Reilly challenged him to come on his show, saying Stewart “owed him an appearance.”
“Mr. Stewart echoing what President Obama said,” O’Reilly exclaimed. “That some of the issues I brought up have been ‘thoroughly investigated.’ Of course, that’s a farce.”
Jon Stewart opened Tuesday night’s Daily Show by skewering Fox and O’Reilly for complaining that the President intentionally refrained from discussing controversial topics such as Benghazi attacks and the IRS scandal.
“You know the president doesn’t work for Fox, right? He can deviate from your script!” Stewart said.
“I know — and you probably know, too — that these issues aren’t important to Jon Stewart, or even to the president,” O’Reilly said. “They don’t see them as vital, because they don’t pertain to social justice, or global warming. So, if I ask about those issues, I’m a doofus, a scandal-monger.”
“Are you hearing me out there in left-wing fantasyland?” he concluded. “Good grief.”
