Rich David, the mayor of Binghamton, New York, released the shocking dash cam footage following a massive accident.

Dash cam video shows the nightmarish 10-car pileup and the resultant chaos from an Aug. 25 crash in Binghamton, New York. Amazingly, no one died, although 10 people were taken to hospital, with two suffering serious injuries.

A tractor trailer carrying stone blocks struck multiple vehicles in its path.

One of the cars burst into flames and bystanders had to pull out a woman from the burning car. Binghamton firefighters also assisted in removing another victim trapped in a vehicle.

“In a time of crisis, these brave individuals navigated through flames and broken glass to save a stranger’s life,” Binghamton Mayor Rich David wrote.

Assistant Fire Chief Mark Whelan said that without the strangers' help, the woman almost certainly would be dead.

"Prior to us getting there, two passersby smashed the window of her car and got her out of it," he said. "They saved her life ... I can't say enough. There was so many cars up there, it was like a demolition derby. Traffic could not move at all.”

Binghamton Police Department, Binghamton Fire Department, Broome County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police were all on scene.

Details, however, are still sketchy and an investigation is underway.
