PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) -- A government official says a bomb has killed at least 10 people in a market in northwestern Pakistan.

The blast Tuesday took place close to a bus in the town of Jamrud in Khyber region, which is close to Afghanistan.

Local government official Iqbal Khan said the motive for the attack was not known.

Islamist militants with links to al-Qaida have carried out hundreds of bombings in Pakistan since 2007.
