A player on Brazil’s Chapecoense soccer team, Tiago da Rocha Vieira, also known as Tiaguinho, had found out that he was going to become a first-time father, just a week before he died in a fatal Colombian plane crash.
His teammates caught the heartwarming moment on camera.
The video starts off with Tiaguinho receiving a gift bag from his wife, Graziele.
Sitting against a wall, he reads a note and later looks inside the gift bag in which he discovers tiny baby shoes.
He suddenly jumps and starts celebrating with his friend — behind the camera — overcome with the joy of having a baby boy.
The first-time father’s expressions recorded in the video are just priceless.
The 22-year-old father was among the 71 people killed after a charter plane carrying 77 passengers, including members of the Chapecoense team, crashed near Medellin in Colombia.
Tiaguinho’s family revealed the video after learning about his sad demise.
Gilmara Marins, Tiaguinho's cousin, told CNN that the family was in shock.
"His wife's pregnancy is a small miracle. It is a small part of Tiaguinho that stays behind with us. We are thankful," Marins said, adding his wife, Graziele, is just over a month pregnant.
"He always wanted to be a young father ... so I am happy that he got to have that last joy."
"His mother still cannot believe what happened. She is still waiting for him to be alive," she commented.
"But his death has been confirmed, so we are just awaiting the arrival of the body. That is all we can do now. Wait for him to come home."
Messages of support and strength started pouring in from all over the world soon after news of the crash was reported.
Earlier, the team’s Facebook page posted a video showing the team getting ready for their journey.
Team member Alan Ruschel, who recorded a video of the team before the plane took off, is believed to be one of the survivors.
