Spoofing was inevitable. Afghan-style was not!

The latest parody of PSY’s Gangnam- style was done by a group of British soldiers based in Afghanistan’s Camp Bastion to raise money for the Sweledale Mountain Rescue Team.  While the cause was noble, the idea of the video, for some, was not.

Many people have criticized the soldiers to use Afghanistan, a place where a war is being fought, in such an act. The military equipment used in the background sends a negative message to some of the viewers.  On the other hand, the cause for which the video has been shot is being praised. The video was filmed over a three -month period during downtime.

It has a bit of festive touch to it with several soldiers dressed in Santa Claus costumes and hats. The choreography is nothing like the original song, that topped the charts and ruled for months, but it is certainly amusing. Watching British troops dancing in silly costumes is not much of a treat but is entertaining indeed.

While many people are condemning the video, it remains an act of humor largely, created to raise money for a cause. If anyone has to get offended, it has to be PSY and no one else. The video has already gone viral and is getting mixed reactions from people all over the world.
