More than 3,000 people fleeing war and poverty in their native lands landed in a shanty town on France's north coast, called, somewhat ominously, the "Jungle." But it’s a temporary shelter - their ultimate destination is the United Kingdom. Each day brings the challenge of sneaking in to Britain for a new, better life.
But it’s a hard struggle. Britain, the land of their dreams, doesn’t want them on its soil and on the other side of the coveted border there is a life of uncertainty, squalor and fear.
For many it’s not much better than what they have left behind but it’s their only chance of a better life for themselves and their families.
