Officials are investigating a fire that broke out a mosque in Coachella, California, where an arsonist allegedly “fire-bombed” the facility.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the building at about 12:10 p.m. and reports indicated a “loud boom” could be heard. Within the hour the fire was contained.

Officials are investigating the fire as a “possible arson”, and the  mosque’s acting imam, Reymundo Nour, said witnesses believe the fire was intentional.

No individuals were injured in the fire and no suspects have been put in custody yet.

This is not the first time the mosque has been targeted. In November 2014, the place of worship was hit with gunfire. The building was hit along with a car.

In the aftermath of the San Bernardino shooting, Muslims across the country grew wary of possible hate crimes. Those concerns have, unfortunately, been legitimized in the recent weeks with outrageous incidents against Muslims increasing. A xenophobic women tossed hot coffee on a Muslim’s man face after insulting his religion and a severed pig’s head was found at a Philadelphia mosque

Although President Barack Obama has said the U.S. is not at war with Islam, it seems that Americans feel differently.
