Their relationship has set a lot of tongues wagging – and with good reason. James Hooker is the Modesto teacher at Enochs High School where his current 18 year old partner Jordan Powers studied. She was 17 when she met the 41 year old Hooker.

Their relationship has set a lot of tongues wagging – and with good reason. James Hooker is the Modesto teacher at Enochs High School where his current 18 year old partner Jordan Powers studied. She was 17 when she met the 41 year old Hooker.

The former high school teacher has left his family – a wife and his 17 year old daughter who goes to the same school as Jordan Powers.  With more than 23 years age difference between the couple, psychologists have described  the 41 year old James Hooker as a ‘sexual predator’ and believe both the couples are suffering from paranoia.

The two have also gone to great lengths to defend their relationship while agreeing that it has hurt those they love. "He's my best friend," Jordan Powers said, "I mean; he's more than just a lover." While James Hooker added, “I don’t regret anything.”

Both James Hooker and Jordan Powers are currently under investigation by the Modesto Police department for breaking the law. Jordan was 17 when she started her relationship with Hooker – both of them insist they were not physical until 18th birthday.

Tammie Powers – the 18 year old Jordan Powers’ mother has since made national headlines as she has continues to visit the talk show circuit. Mrs. Powers has waged a public campaign against James Hooker, who has moved in with her 18-year old daughter. She also claims that she has more than 8,000 text messages and is trying to gather more evidence in order to prove that James Hooker is a criminal.

"I'm going to get him," Powers told Grace. "He's messed with the wrong mother."

In the meantime, Hooker insists he is innocent. In an interview he said, “Love will overcome everything. I love my children. I love Jordan. I think that you're making … judgment calls. And I think that we'll prove you wrong.”

Whether the police clear the two and they live happily ever after – that remains to be seen.
