While talking about U.S. nominee ambassador to Dominican Republic, The Archbishop of Santo Domingo used an abusive term for openly gay men by calling them f*****s.
When reporters asked for Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez’s comments on James ‘Wally Brewster’, the Archbishop said, “You can expect just about anything from the United States and no one in this country can say they don’t know my view on this issue: I absolutely disagree with those sorts of opinions and preferences.”
When the cardinal was questioned about the Haitian boycott of Dominican poultry products, he used derogatory term to describe Brewster.
“We go from f****ts and lesbians to this? We’re jumping to chickens now?” shouted Rodriguez.
According to some news reports, the enraged cardinal also said, “We don't have to do anything. It's the government's job to accept them. They are interested in advancing their agenda, but they have to know there are many people in the world who are against that, both in Christian and non-Christian governments. Ask the Muslim world what they think about that, in addition to Christians and Evangelicals.”
People are really upset with Rodriguez and the way he addressed the LGBT community as a whole. Check out some reactionary tweets:
