The serial killer found the love of his life had ulterior motives.

Charles Manson

Convicted murderer Charles Manson has broken off his engagement. Apparently his bride-to-be was using him for his body – his dead body, to be exact.

The 80-year-old murderer and 27-year-old Afton Elaine Burton (aka Star) were all set to tie the knot even though he was not eligible for parole until 2027.

According to journalist Daniel Simone, the author of a new book about the killer, Manson's fiancé had a plan to reap the benefits of her husband-to-be’s notoriety after his death and put Manson's corpse on display. She actually wanted to have his body in a glass crypt just like Lenin is in his tomb in Russia and of course, earn a ton of money in the process.

Learning his love’s true intentions, Manson spent no time in calling off the wedding.

In fact, he now says, he never actually wanted to marry her anyway.

"He's finally realized that he's been played for a fool ... Manson never consented to the wedding in the first place and never will," Daniel Simone says. "He feels he will never die," Simone added. "Therefore, he feels it's a stupid idea to begin with."

According to Fox News, Burton initially wanted Manson to sign papers for the ownership of his body, but the killer balked at the notion, so she resorted to marrying him. The law in California, where Manson is incarcerated, grants spousal ownership of remains.

It’s ironic how a man like Manson can be taken for a ride by someone.

Manson founded a cult group known as "the Family" in the 1960s and manipulated followers into viciously killing people. He and his group were convicted in 1969 of multiple murders, including that of the actress Sharon Tate, the pregnant wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski, who was stabbed 16 times by members of his cult.

When a vicious man like him is taken by a ride (even an attempted one), it makes you say a little thanks to karma.
