Heavy rains and floods reported as one of the worst in 50 years continue to inundate southern and southwestern China. Tropical storm Rumbia made landfall Tuesday morning bringing gale force winds and heavy rains to coastal cities.
Local authorities are monitoring the storm and have asked fishermen to return to port.
Torrential rains caused flooding in some residential areas destroying infrastructure and leaving some people stranded.
Around 355 firemen assisted in rescue efforts and a total of 6,800 people were removed from heavily-flooded villages in the area.
