It's party time in the Far East, as people welcome the year of the sheep with the Lunar New Year.

The Lunar New Year celebrations kicked off in China and neighboring countries on Thursday as people took to streets in festive mood to welcome the year of the sheep.

Millions of people across Asia are heading back home to celebrate the day in the company of their loved ones. Have are some of those festive scenes:
